The Terreno ION Lounge Floor Plan Returns for 2027

The Lounge floorplan returns to the Grech Terreno-ion AWD for 2027, bringing back a layout previously offered on the model. For current buyers, that means the Terreno can once again be configured around either the Tour or Lounge arrangement.

The Lounge puts more emphasis on passenger seating and a second gathering area toward the front of the coach, while keeping the Terreno’s shorter 22-foot footprint.

The choice therefore comes down to how you want to use the interior during the day: more storage and galley space in the Tour, or more seating and openness in the Lounge.

What Are the 2027 Terreno Floorplan Choices?

For 2027, Terreno buyers can compare two primary floorplans:

• Tour: seats up to five and sleeps up to two.

• Lounge: seats up to seven and sleeps up to two.

Both use the same Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500XD 170-inch platform and share the Terreno’s overall dimensions. The difference is how the interior space is arranged.

What Does the Terreno Lounge Add?

The Lounge uses the front portion of the coach for additional passenger seating and another place to gather. It can seat up to seven, making it useful when another couple, children, or grandchildren regularly come along.

That extra seating does involve a tradeoff. Compared with the Tour, the Lounge gives up the closet and some galley space. In return, it adds a window beside the chauffeur-side captain’s chair where the Tour places the closet, bringing more light into the front of the coach.

The decision is therefore not simply five seats versus seven. It is storage and galley space versus additional seating and a more open front area.

How Is the Tour Different?

The Tour makes better use of the front area for storage and galley space rather than additional passenger seating. It seats up to five and sleeps up to two.

For buyers who usually use the Terreno as a couple or with a smaller group, the closet and additional kitchen space may be more useful than the Lounge’s extra seats.

A Strada-Style Lounge in the Shorter Terreno

With the Lounge returning to the Terreno for 2027, buyers again have that seating arrangement in the shorter body. The two models share the same living-area dimensions, while the Strada uses its extra 16 inches for additional rear storage behind the sofa bed. That difference is easier to evaluate in a side-by-side look at the Strada Ion and Terreno Ion.

That distinction is important.

Choosing the Terreno Lounge does not mean getting a smaller version of the Strada living area. It means getting the Lounge concept in a 16-inch-shorter body, without the additional rear storage found in the Strada.

For buyers who like the Lounge arrangement but do not need that extra trunk space, the 2027 Terreno now gives them another option.

Tour or Lounge: Which Terreno Fits You Better?

The easiest way to choose is to think about who will be inside the Terreno.

Consider the Tour if:

• You usually use the coach as a couple or with a smaller group.
• Five passenger positions are enough.
• Closet storage matters.
• You would use the additional galley space more than extra passenger seating.

Consider the Lounge if:

• You regularly bring another couple, children, or grandchildren.
• Seating for up to seven would be useful.
• You prefer a second gathering area toward the front.
• You value the additional side window and a more open front area more than the Tour’s closet and extra galley space.
• You like the Lounge arrangement but prefer the Terreno’s shorter body compared with the Strada.

Neither floorplan adds sleeping capacity over the other, so this is primarily a daytime-use and passenger-seating decision.

What Else Changed for 2027 Terreno-ion AWD?

Beyond the returning Lounge floorplan, the other major 2027 updates are electrical capacity and Mercedes-Benz warranty coverage.

The Terreno-ion AWD now uses GRECH POWER MAX with 20,480 Wh of battery capacity, up from 16,896 Wh in the previous GRECH POWER system.

Mercedes-Benz warranty coverage also increases to 5 years or 100,000 miles, compared with the previous 3 years or 36,000 miles.

Those features are shared across the Terreno rather than being reasons to choose Tour over Lounge, so the floorplan decision can remain focused on how you want to use the interior.

With the 2027 Terreno, pay particular attention to the front of the coach. Compare how you would use that space in the Tour with the additional seating and gathering area in the Lounge.
