Why should I buy a Grech RV instead of an Airstream Interstate?

It’s a fair question. Both are premium Class B motorhomes built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, and both are respected names in the RV industry. Airstream has a much longer history in the RV market and is now owned by THOR Industries, one of the world’s largest RV manufacturers. Grech comes from more than 40 years of luxury motorized coach manufacturing.

So, what do we tell customers?

Here are 10 of the reasons buyers choose Grech RV.

Features and specifications can vary by model, model year, floorplan, and optional equipment. This article is intended as a general comparison of current 2027 Grech RV and Airstream Interstate offerings. Buyers should always confirm the specifications of the individual coach they are considering.

1. More Battery Power

For most Class B buyers, battery power matters, and this is one of the clearest differences between Grech RV and the Airstream Interstate.

Grech RV’s POWER MAX system, standard on current 2027 Strada, Terreno, and Turismo models, provides 20,480 Wh of lithium battery capacity. Depending on conditions and power usage, that can provide approximately 14–16 hours of air-conditioning runtime on battery power. That is a lot of battery capacity, included as standard equipment.

The Airstream Interstate comes standard with 10.3 kWh of lithium battery capacity. Its optional Advanced Power Plus upgrade increases capacity to 17.2 kWh. This is still less than the 20+ kWh Grech includes standard on POWER MAX models, and at an additional cost.

For buyers who want to run the air conditioner longer and spend more time away from hookups, Grech simply offers more battery capacity, even compared with Airstream’s upgraded power system.

2. Build Quality

On paper, these luxury Class B motorhomes look similar. The difference is in the execution and the details.

Grech RV comes from more than 40 years of luxury motorized coach manufacturing, and that experience shows in the fit and finish of the coach. Cabinet alignment, radius doors, trim work, exterior moldings, upholstery, and the way components are installed all contribute to how a motorhome feels when you walk through it, and how it holds up after thousands of miles on the road.

Airstream builds a premium coach. This is not an argument that it doesn’t.

Open the cabinets. Look at the hardware. Sit in the seats. Pay attention to the trim and finishing work.

The difference is easier to see in person than it is to describe on a specification sheet.

3. A Longer Warranty and a More Responsive Service Process

Grech RV provides a 3-year/36,000-mile coach warranty with a 5-year/100,000-mile extended limited warranty from Mercedes-Benz on the chassis. Airstream’s coach warranty is 2-year/24,000-mile, with a 5-year/75,000-mile Mercedes chassis warranty.

The extra years and miles matter, but the warranty process matters just as much.

Airstream has a more established dealer network. But Grech takes a different approach to service.

Initial troubleshooting can often begin over the phone or through remote diagnostics. When a repair is needed, Grech can work with its dealers, local service providers, and mobile technicians to find a practical solution rather than automatically requiring the coach to sit at a dealership for weeks waiting in a service queue.

4. A Larger, More Usable Wet Bath

Bathrooms are always a compromise in a Class B motorhome.

Grech RV’s wet bath is larger and includes usable countertop space and a window with a privacy shade. Those may sound like small details until you’re actually using the bathroom every day on a long trip.

The window provides natural light that makes a small space feel a bit roomier. The countertop gives you somewhere to set toiletries. And the additional space simply makes the wet bath more comfortable to use.

5. Garmin SERV+ and Grech Connect Remote Diagnostics

Most modern luxury motorhomes have a touchscreen control system.

What differentiates Grech is the combination of coach control and remote diagnostics.

Grech RV uses Garmin SERV+ to manage major coach systems, including lighting, climate, power, tank levels, shades, the awning, and audio. Owners can access coach controls from the central Garmin display and compatible mobile devices.

Grech Connect adds remote diagnostic capabilities.

When something isn’t working the way an owner expects, Grech and its dealer network can access certain coach information remotely and help troubleshoot the issue. Instead of trying to describe a battery reading or system status over the phone, the coach can provide information that helps identify the problem.

It’s a feature that may not seem particularly exciting during a showroom demonstration.

After the sale, it can be one of the most valuable systems in the coach.

6. Starlink Installed – with KVH Support

Starlink is standard and installed on Grech RV flagship models, not simply pre-wired.

Grech’s Starlink system also includes KVH support, giving owners access to live phone support if Starlink isn’t working. Anyone who has tried to troubleshoot Starlink knows that getting real-time help can be difficult.

For buyers who rely on internet while traveling, having the system factory-installed with live support is a meaningful advantage.

7. Larger Tanks Mean More Time Off-Grid

With today’s lithium power systems, batteries can be recharged in a number of ways: while driving, idling, from solar, or with shore power.

Fresh water is different. Once it’s gone, you have to find somewhere to refill.

Grech RV’s larger freshwater capacity gives owners more time between stops and removes one of the biggest limitations to extended off-grid travel. For buyers who actually plan to use their motorhome away from full-hookup campgrounds, more water means more freedom.

8. Exterior Finish and the All-in-One Utility Center

Exterior design is subjective. We think Grech builds one of the sleekest Class B motorhomes on the road, but buyers should decide that for themselves.

The functional differences are easier to explain.

Grech uses stainless moldings and carefully integrated exterior components to create a consistent, finished appearance across the coach. Outside connections are routed through a single concealed Utility Center, keeping water, electrical, and service connections organized in one location.

Instead of connections scattered around the exterior of the coach, owners have one centralized area for setup and breakdown.

9. A More Usable Kitchen

Kitchen space is limited in every Class B motorhome, so the details matter.

Grech RV includes a two-burner induction cooktop, giving owners the flexibility to prepare more than one thing at a time. The kitchen also includes a farmhouse-style sink and a combination microwave, convection oven, and air fryer.

The Airstream Interstate uses a single-burner induction cooktop. It is a perfectly functional setup, but for buyers who actually plan to cook in their motorhome, Grech’s kitchen offers more flexibility in the same compact space.

It’s a small difference on a specification sheet and a much bigger difference when you’re trying to make dinner on the road.

10. The Details Add Up

No one chooses a motorhome because of a single solar panel, television feature, or suspension component. But when buyers compare Grech RV and Airstream closely, the smaller details start to add up.

A few differences we think are worth noticing:
